Robert H. Marshall of Bourne passed away suddenly from illness on February 9, 2020. He was
76.
Bob was born in East Boston on April 12, 1943. He grew up in Readville, and was a 1961 graduate of Hyde Park High School where he participated in football and track. He was a musician who played rudimentary drums in
the St. Kevin Emerald Knights Drum and Bugle Corps of Dorchester and taught drums to the Sacred
Heart Sabres Drum and Bugle Corps of Middleboro. During this time, he proudly served as a sergeant in
the United States Army.
Professionally, Bob was an operations manager who was a problem solver. But he was also a
man of many hobbies – a photographer, classic car enthusiast, food connoisseur, music lover, and sports
fan who was heavily involved in organizing and coaching youth football leagues. His induction into the
Massachusetts Drum Corps Hall of Fame was his proudest personal achievement.
Bob is survived by his wife Julia (Judy) and six children: Kevin, Steven, Thomas, James, Robert W,
Donna, and one grandson Colin. He also leaves behind his sister Mary Bates and nephew William
Kafouse. In addition to family, he is also survived by many friends both young and old who were
enamored with this colorful conversation, generous spirit, and unforgettable personality.
