Rose Jean (Capasso) Thomas, 92, passed away at home on February 25, 2019.
Rose was the beloved wife of the late Charles “Dick” Thomas who passed away in 2016. She is predeceased by her son, Richard Thomas, grandson, David Gove, and brother Rudolf Capasso. She leaves behind three daughters, Donna Thomas of Centerville, MA, Diane Papagno and her husband Daniel of Sterling, MA, and Eleanor Lyons and her husband Peter of Portsmouth, RI; and a daughter-in-law (wife of her late son Rick), Christine Thomas of South Yarmouth, MA; nine grandchildren, Kim Burnieika and her husband Tom of Centerville, MA, Kristen Buttrick and her husband David of Sandwich, MA, Stacy Lane and her husband Matthew of Sterling, MA, Daniel Papagno and his wife Tracy of Sterling, MA, Adam Lyons of Wilbraham, MA, Andrew Lyons and his wife Amanda of Portsmouth, RI, Alison Coburn and her husband Jason of Holden, MA, Derek Thomas of South Yarmouth, and Kevin Thomas of South Yarmouth. She also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren, Matty (13), Eva and Emma (11), Isabella (8), Nicolas (6), Karlee (5), Cullen (5), Avery (3), Charlotte (1), and Noah (1) who were blessed to have known their great-grandma. She also leaves behind a sister, Eleanor DiCicco of Centerville, MA.

Rose grew up in East Boston, MA, the daughter of Italian immigrants, Eugenio and Elena (Pelosi) Capasso. After graduating high school, she attended art school to pursue her love of drawing and painting. She and Dick met when he was stationed at the Watertown Arsenal as a Medic with the US Army and their amazing, story-book love began. They set the most beautiful example of unconditional love for their family during their 68 year marriage until his death in 2016. Rose loved life, art, cooking the most amazing Italian food, the Boston Red Sox, and most of all her family, but there is no place she would rather be than in the loving arms of her beloved husband.

A private service will be held at the Bourne National Cemetery.

I loved Aunt Rose. My strongest memories of her were her great cooking (best lasagna ever) and her sharp mind! She was a champion crossword and Scrabble player to the end. I am thinking of Donna, Diane, Eleanor, and their families and happy they have so many cherished memories of both their parents. Much love to all, Nancy (California cousin and Rose’s niece)
