Hyannis- Sheila F. Murphy, 92 Retired Travel Agent, Banker died Feb 6th at Windsor Skilled Nursing-Rehab in S. Yarmouth after a brief illness.
Ms. Murphy was born in Brooklyn, NY and is preceded in death by her parents Rose & Thomas Murphy and her sister Eileen Murphy.
Sheila was raised in foster care until the age of ten due to her father’s death prior to her birth. At age 10
Sheila was reunited with family and raised by an Aunt and Uncle until eventually settling with her beloved sister, Eileen.
Ms. Murphy’s professional career spanned many decades. She worked as a credit banker in Manhattan,
Owner/Travel agent in Osterville, Travel Agency work in Boston, and most recently, until Covid-19 furloughs, as a Sales Associate at Macy’s Cape Cod.
Ms. Murphy was a devout Catholic and member of Our Lady of Victory Parish in Centerville, MA. Her prayer list was legendary and if you knew her, you made the list! Sheila M. was a friend of Bill W. for over 20 years. She was an advocate for the homeless and made regular visits to Pilot house and then Champ homes. She was on the board of directors for Champ Homes.
Sheila Murphy loved theater, Snoopy, Mickey Mouse and Ice Cream. Her friendships knew no age limits and her love spanned many generations. Ms. Murphy had a sharp wit, a kind & generous heart and commanded respect.
She was so loved and will be missed by many.
A Celebration of life to be held at a later date due to Covid-19 gathering restrictions. Until we can safely gather, please remember Ms. Sheila Murphy with love and practice a random act of kindness on her behalf.
