Obituary for Thomas Paul Shevory

Thomas Paul Shevory (Tom), dearly loved father, brother, grandfather, and friend passed away to heaven on Saturday February 12, 2022. Tom passed on peacefully at his home, while comforted and loved by his family.

Tom was born March 5th, 1948 in Boston, MA to the late Joseph and Irene (Bracken) Shevory. Tom grew up in a loving, family-oriented home in Hyde Park, MA. Tom is survived by his brother Joseph Shevory (of Deadham, MA), sister Jean Scarry (of Westwood, MA),brother Richard Shevory (of Bourne, MA) and brother John Shevory (of Walpole, MA).

Tom attended Catholic Memorial High School, then went on to serve in the National Guard. Tom held a long and successful career as an Electrical Designer at United Engineers & Constructors in Boston, MA.

Tom spent his childhood summers with his family in Chatham, MA where Tom fell in love with Cape Cod, boating and the ocean. Tom and his former wife Marie Lydon (of Falmouth) chose to raise their family in Falmouth, MA so their family could enjoy the Cape and the ocean just as Tom did as a youth. Tom had a tremendous work ethic, and even during his free time, he was often working on a new project around the home.

Tom is survived by his loving children, daughter Colleen Vahey (of Bourne, MA), son Tom Shevory and daughter-in-law Melissa Shevory (of Sandwich, MA), daughter Leanne Webb and son-in-law Charles Webb (of Franklin, MA). Tom was known as "Pa" to his beloved grandchildren: Taylor Vahey, Allison Vahey, Sam Shevory, Norah Shevory, Gavin Webb, and Ryan Webb. Tom had many nieces, nephews, and cousins who all enjoyed spending time and visiting with Tom.

Tom settled in Chatham, MA where he enjoyed his retirement years. Tom loved his Boxer, "Chief" and the two did not leave one-another's side. Tom enjoyed spending time with his family on the boat, digging for clams, or summer nights spent on his porch telling stories and sharing laughs with family. Tom would do anything to help a family member or friend in need, and he will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate to have known him. Tom would often say to his children, "We have the best family".

A Memorial Mass will be said for Tom on March 5, 2022, which was to be his 74th Birthday. The Mass will be held at 10 AM at the Holy Redeemer Church, 57 Highland Ave, Chatham MA
