Obituary for Toni West (Wescott)
BOURNE – Toni W. West, passed away peacefully at Keystone Assisted Living, Buzzards Bay MA on 10/18/2020.
Toni was born on April 18th, 1942 in Boston, Ma. to Horace and Margaret Wescott. She attended Lasell College and worked as Property Manager of the Falmouth Mall and Southwind Plaza before being an owner/operator of West Marine at Green Pond, Inc.
Toni had an emphatic passion for Martial Arts. She practiced Uechi-Ryu for over 30 years and attained the accomplished rank of 6th DAN (Rokudan) in 2009. She was a senior black belt instructor who served on the promotion board at Art Rebesa’s Falmouth dojo. She taught many women’s self-defense courses. Toni was a terrific cook and kept very active. She enjoyed bird watching, wood carving, chair caning, and taking night school classes.
She was an incredibly independent and strong-willed woman who inspired those around her including family and many friends. Her strong will, determination, and Martial Arts experience enabled her to strongly recover from a major stroke in 2005. She was a true warrior and fighter. She will be missed by all that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother John Wescott. She is survived by her children; Penny and Todd Inwood, Montgomery AL. Dwain & Sandra West, East Falmouth MA and their three children Rebecca and David Boettcher, Christopher West, Timothy & Danielle West and three great grandchildren.
