Obituary for Verlyn Lawrence "Larry" Turner

Mr. Verlyn (Larry) Lawrence Turner, son of the late Dempsey and Annie Turner and was born March 22, 1949 in Wadley, Georgia. He attended the public schools of Jefferson County and was a high school graduate of Wadley High School. At an early age he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined Bethel A.M.E. Church in Plymouth, Mass where he was a dedicated member and a landscaper for the church.

He was united in holy matrimony to Ms. Martha Rhodes in March of 1982. Larry loved to collect cans and coins. He loved his wife's cooking, Pepsi and Snickers. Larry was known to be a "jokester". One of his famous quotes was, "I'm just an asshole." Larry was a hardworking provider who was employed at Silvert Paper Company for many years. He worked at Freeman's Bakery in 1989. Larry also worked at Litecontrol in Hanson, Mass as a retired welder for many years and soon after, he retired.

Larry leaves behind to cherish his memory: His loving wife for 39 years, Martha E. Turner of Plymouth, Mass, four daughters: Sheril D Rhodes of Roslindale, Mass, Alissa J. Rhodes of Vero Beach, Florida, Shawanda T. Santos of Plymouth, Mass, Jovonda Patrice Jones of Augusta, Ga, two sons: George T. Rhodes of Boston, Mass and Kevin D. Rhodes of Plymouth, Mass. Eight siblings: Thomas Dempsey Turner, Jr. (Carolyn) of Wadley, Ga, William Turner (Alice) of Wadley, Ga, Jackie Miles Turner (Betty Jean) of Wadley, Ga, Mary Francis Turner of Covington, Ga, Margaret Jordan Adkins (Quilla) of Boston, Mass, Joyce Kirby of Decatur, Ga and the late: Bill and Rick Turner as well as a host of grand children, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth, MA. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 3rd from 11 am - 12 pm. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home from 12:00-1:00 pm.
Burial will be private.
