Obituary for Wendy Bel McLaughlin

Wendy Bel McLaughlin, 65, passed away comfortably at home surrounded by family and friends on October 9, 2022, after a battle with cancer. She was born May 10, 1957, in Great Falls, Montana, the daughter of David T. and Judith (Landauer) McLaughlin.

Wendy was the epitome of a social butterfly; she was able to become friends with anyone and loved meeting new friends. Wendy was central to the lives of many, anywhere she went; whether it was through art, gardening, cooking, sports, or a night spent dancing. More than anything, Wendy loved sunshine, warm weather, and time with friends and family.

Wendy loved to create art and truly followed her creative heart these past few decades. She painted, crafted gourds and ornaments, and dove into any artistic activity that came her way-displaying her work in several art shows. Wendy loved gardening, and had elaborate flower gardens at her Cape Cod home that she spent hours of time in. Wendy was an incredible cook and had a recipe for every occasion. Despite her cancer diagnosis Wendy was still an avid tennis player, golfer, and pickleball player.

Wendy was preceded in death by her father, David T., her uncle Charles, and her grandparents Ruth and Charles Landauer. Wendy is survived by her daughter, Annie (Zach) Kolar, her son Mark (Caroline) Landauer, her grandchildren Kinsley and Rowan, her mother Judith, her brothers William (Martha) and Jay (Karen) McLaughlin, and her sister Susan (Joe) Jangro as well as nieces, nephews, and friends. Wendy cherished the time with her family and friends, especially the moments she was able to share with her grandchildren.

Wendy requested a celebration of life be held in her honor, to celebrate all the people and activities she loved so dearly. We invite all of Wendy's loved ones to join us in celebrating her beautiful life at her home at 4 Aviators Lane, Sandwich, MA on Friday, October 21, 2022, at 3pm. There will be a service followed by an oyster bar, cocktails, and dinner. A future celebration of life will be held on Sanibel Island when her family spreads her ashes in the Gulf of Mexico. In memory of Wendy's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) or hurricane Ian relief efforts.

Wendy, my my, just how much we'll miss you.
