Agnes Holmes, age 92, slipped peacefully away on March 10, 2025. Born February 13th, 1933, she was the daughter of Frank and Catherine Burton and adored great niece of Clarence and Eva Burton (Sis and Burkie). She was born and raised in Cecilton, MD. Her husband of 40 years, Ashley Holmes, preceded her by 16 years. She is survived by her sister, Frances Johnson of Romney, WV, and her brother Walter Burton and his wife Dorothy, of Elkton, MD. She was preceded in death by her sister, Annabelle Brown and their infant brother. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Richard, Jr and Terri Wall, Allan and Donna Wall, Glen and Toni Wall, Joan Brugger, Susan and Robert Fugazzi, Donald and Yvonne Holmes, eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Agnes, Aggie, Ag, Aunt Luke and Mema, as she was fondly called by many, will be dearly missed. She pursued a lifetime of interests, bowling, crocheting, daily soap operas, bingo, reading, hunting, fishing, canning, cake decorating, traveling and hosting warm weather parties and lobster dinners. Pitching in with the yearly cranberry harvest was an example of her Can Do attitude. She traveled with her late husband and friends to all but a few of the United States including Hawaii and Alaska, as well as other countries and multiple cruises. She enjoyed keeping her home, yard, beach, gardens as well as the many communications to loved ones and friends on birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and especially welcoming new babies, crocheting outfits and blankets. Babies and young children lifted her and gave her great pleasure.

Two strong, inspiring women awaited her arrival in heaven, her friend Enid of 70 years and Susan, her mother in law.

We walk in life seeking dreams, doing our very best, striving to obey gods will and in the end we are admired by those who will follow us.

Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street. At Aggie's request, funeral services will be private.
