Alan J Novak, 66 of Plymouth, died peacefully at home on Monday, August 19, 2013. He was born and raised in Holbrook, the son of Lorraine (Riley) and the late Joseph R. Novak. He graduated from Holbrook High in 1965 and Blue Hills Regional Technical School in 1967. Alan worked for and retired from the MBTA. He also worked many years at Boston Globe and Boston Herald after retiring from the MBTA. He was a member of Hilltop Athletic Association, IAM Local 264 and the MBTA Pensioners Club. He was known to be strong willed and a force to be reckoned with. Al is survived by his wife Nancy (Kelley) Novak. He is also survived by his children, Kellie and Mike Vernazzaro and Chris and Liz (Morris) Novak. He was the grandfather of Will, Jake and Owen Novak and Vincent Vernazzaro. He also leaves behind his sister, Joanne Sullivan, of Bridgewater and his brother, Lawrence P Novak of Brockton. Funeral arrangements will be made by the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth, MA. Calling hours will be on Thursday, August 22 from 4:00-7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held at Saint Kateri church, 126 South Meadow Road, Plymouth on Friday, August 23 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Vine Hills Cemetery in Plymouth.
