Albert Nuttall, 84, a long-time resident of Norton, MA and more recently of Ellenton, FL passed away on April 11th due to complications from the coronavirus. He is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Ann, the center of Al's life. He is also survived by his sons Robert and Craig, their wives Cara and Darcie, and five grandchildren JR, Stephen, Cain, Jacob, and Ashleigh. Al also leaves his brothers David and George, sister Nancy DeSilvia, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he enjoyed taking an active interest in their lives. Al was preceded in death by his eldest son, Stephen.
Al, perhaps more commonly known as Mr. Nuttall, was a teacher in the Norton Public School system for 37 years. He was active in many extracurriculars in Norton, coaching high school golf and girls and boys basketball for many years, contributing as a writer for the Norton Mirror, serving on the town's Finance Committee, and even manning the ticket sales at football home games.
Helping to shape the lives of so many was Al's proudest achievement. Many have credited him with getting their starts in public service, teaching, or writing and with encouraging them to finish high school and even to vote. Many more have referred to him as a patient and kind soul, quick with a joke, but also a caring listener. Al has been called a wonderful teacher and a role model.
Al was a graduate of Coyle Cassidy High School and Bridgewater State College. He was a great fan of the local sports teams and was active in athletics himself for much of his life. Al was close to God and was active in his church communities. He loved live music, hearing stories about his grandkids, and getting updates from faculty and students of years gone by.
Due to the current pandemic, the family will have a memorial service at a later date to celebrate Al's life. Arrangements entrusted to Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth, MA 02360. In lieu of flowers please donate in Al's name to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.
