Obituary

On April 21, 2026, Alice L. Jones of Plymouth passed away peacefully at the age of 95. Born in

Plymouth, Massachusetts on December 30, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Garrard

and Alice C. Garrard and a lifelong resident of the town she proudly called home. Alice lived a full and

meaningful life centered around family, love, and the simple joys that mattered most.

Alice was the beloved wife of the late William M. “Bill” Jones, with whom she shared a lifetime of love,

laughter, and partnership. Together they built a home filled with warmth, resilience, and unwavering

devotion to their family.

She was the loving mother of Karen L. Paulding, Wendy M. Davies, Cindy G. Jones-Blanchard, Mark

W. Jones, and her dear late son Brian D. Jones. She was also the cherished “Sis” of the late Jimmy,

Bobby, and Dickie Garrard. Alice leaves behind six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, all of

whom brought immense pride and joy to her life.

For many years, Alice worked in the Plymouth Public School system, where she became a familiar

and well-loved presence. She began as a lunch lady and worked her way up to managing the lunch

program at Plymouth South High School.

Traveling up to New Hampshire with Bill to spend time outdoors, snowmobiling with friends, was

something they both truly looked forward to. They also loved going out dancing on the weekends.

Music was a great joy in Alice’s life, especially Frank Sinatra. She even got the chance to go see Old

Blue Eyes perform live on stage.

Her creative spirit and gift for making things with her hands were felt throughout her home. She loved

crafting, especially sewing and knitting, and was also known for her cooking, preparing epic

Thanksgiving dinners that featured her pièce de résistance, the legendary meat stuffing. A cherished

family recipe, it was proudly passed down through generations. When it became her family’s turn to

take over the holiday meal, she never hesitated to offer feedback and a few pointers to get the

stuffing just right the next time. No one will ever quite match hers, but when the house fills with that

familiar smell of Bell’s Seasoning, memories of a simpler time will return, and her love will be felt at

the table.

Alice and Bill built a life together rooted in love, hard work, and an appreciation for what they had,

taking great pride in the home where they raised their family. They may not have had everything, but

they had all they needed, and more than enough love to share.

She will be remembered for her strength, her humor, her love for her family and friends, and her

fondness for the color purple. In this moment, we take comfort in her own words: "There is never

goodbye. Just Later"...

Alice, Mom, Ma, Gram, your love lives on through all of us, and your memory will forever be carried in

our hearts. Later...

The Jones family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Life Care Center of

Plymouth for the love and care given to their mother and grandmother, as well as the guidance,

kindness, and support shown to their family.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research

Hospital.
