Wharton, Althea, 94, in Kingston, passed away peacefully September 29, 2014. She was born in Somerville, MA, the daughter of the late Glenn Earle and Carmen (Pedrazzi) Owens.
Althea was the loving wife of the late Richard Wharton for 49 years.
Althea was very involved with the Arlington Art Association, the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the Pleasant Street Congregational Church. She and Richard built their retirement home in Monroe, Maine and in 1981 moved from their Arlington home of 23 years to Monroe, Maine where they spent many happy years. Althea was an enthusiastic supporter of the Monroe Library. She was an avid gardener, she was very involved in the art community. She donated her time to Meals on Wheels, and both she and her husband were community supporters of the first food co-ops in both Arlington and Monroe.
Althea was the loving, nurturing mother of three and is survived by Richard and Candace of Francestown, NH, Ann and Kenneth Margossian of Westborough, MA, and Arthur and Laurin Wharton of Plymouth, MA. She was the grandmother of 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
