IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara
Maitland
September 2, 1941 – May 13, 2024
Barbara Maitland, 82, of Conway NH, passed away in her home on May 13, 2024.
Barbara was born to Stella Cardile in Dorchester, MA on September 2 nd 1941. One of eight children, Barbara was a long-time resident of Plymouth, MA, and a well-loved fixture in her many years as a crossing guard working for the Town of Plymouth Department of Police. She made sure that the children of Hedge Elementary School arrived safely, on time, and with a smile each morning. With her bright pink trench coat, Cadillac with it's dashboard full of stuffed animals, and her sing-song voice she was hard to miss but easy to love.
Barbara was an avid bingo player, card shark, and master home cook who knew a deal when she saw one. She loved Christmas and decorations and had an affinity for animatronics, filling the house with them each holiday season. She loved to garden, crochet, and had a sweater for every holiday. An avid reader, Harlequin, Nora Roberts, and Carol Higgins Clark could never generate enough books to satisfy her and if there was a movie--action or animated, she saw it, and she owned it. A mother of three and grandmother to three more she was sweet, sassy, and always had a quip when you least expected it.
Barbara is survived by her son, Richard Maitland, daughter, Donna McCaffrey, grandchildren Nicole Bulman, Marissa Maitland, Zachary McCaffery, great grandchild Landon Bulman, and siblings Annette Cardile, John Cardile, Mary Lewis, Gloria Burke, Nicky Scully, and her beloved beagle Maggie.
A graveside service will be held on Monday June 3rd at 11:00 am in Vine Hills Cemetery in Plymouth, MA.
