It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Mae (Barnett) Lewis, who passed away on July 7, 2026, at the age of 80.
Betty was born on November 10, 1945, in Weymouth, MA, to Charles R. and Lillian M. (Wilson) Barnett. From an early age, Betty's warmth, kindness, and generous spirit touched the lives of those around her. She built a life centered on love, family, friendship, and the simple joys that brought people together.
Betty worked as an Administrative Assistant at Silver Lake High School, where she was known for her dedication, reliability, and the caring way she treated those around her. She was also famous among family and friends for her homemade chocolate chip cookies, a special treat made with love that brought smiles and created cherished memories.
Outside of work, Betty found happiness in the activities she loved most. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, bowling, gardening, yard work, and playing BINGO. She had a special talent for creating things with her hands and took great pride in caring for her home and garden. Above all, Betty treasured time spent with her family. She especially loved being surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing stories, laughter, and the everyday moments that became lasting memories.
Betty is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 62 years, David A. Lewis; her children, Robin (Lewis) Kelley and her husband Daniel; Michele (Lewis) Bremer and her husband Christopher; and Jennifer Lewis; Alfred Kerry O'Connell (deceased); five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, who will forever carry her love and the memories she created with them.
She was predeceased by her parents, Charles R. Barnett Sr. and Lillian (Wilson) Barnett, and her brothers, Charles "Butch" Barnett Jr. and Edward Barnett.
Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14th from 4-6 pm, with a service immediately following at 6:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cranberry Hospice, if desired at https://bidplymouth.org/locations/cranberry-hospice
Betty will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose kindness, humor, and caring heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her love will continue to live on through the many lives she touched, the memories she created, and the family she cherished so deeply. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered always.
