(Cora) Irene (Damon) Belmore, of West Bridgewater died peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Brockton Hospital. Irene leaves behind three children, Linda L. Boyle and her husband James Boyle of Plymouth, MA, their children, Rachel (Boyle), Stephen Boyle, Kevin Talbot, Kristen (Talbot) Stark and Kelly (Talbot) Rooney; Thomas G. Belmore of West Bridgewater and his children Alexander Belmore, Nicholas Belmore and Travis Belmore and Susan I. Horner of Somerville, MA and her children Peter Hill, Adam Hill, Rachael Hill and Jacqueline Horner. She also leaves 14 great-grandchildren. Born and raised in Duxbury, MA she was the daughter of the late George L. and Rachel L. (Simmons) Damon and sister of the late George (Bing) L. Damon, Jr. She began a lifelong career at the William F. Clapp Laboratories (which later became Battelle Memorial Institute) in Duxbury while still in High School becoming one of the nations' foremost authorities in the field of marine borers working with government agencies and businesses studying, recording and reporting the effects of marine borers on underwater structures. C. Irene Belmore was a 43 Year AUXOP Member of the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 64, Plymouth, MA. She served as Flotilla Commander Flotilla 64 and also as Division Captain of Division 6. Besides being an excellent Boat Crewmember and Coxswain she specialized in teaching Public Education Classes and Member Training; it was not uncommon on most any night of the week to find a class going on in her living or dining room for advanced member courses. Irene was pivotal in many members achieving their goals in the Auxiliary. Her participation earned her many awards over the years. Visiting hours will be from 3:00-5:00pm, Sunday, February 22, 2105 at the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth, MA. with a memorial service at 4:30.
