IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carmela
Papotto
July 11, 1934 – July 6, 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carmela Papotto (Romano), age 89. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Papotto, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and dear friend,
Carmela peacefully departed this life on Saturday, July 6, 2024, just days before her 90th birthday. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Originally from Randazzo, Italy, Carmela immigrated to the United State in 1954 with her parents Anthony and Carmela Romano. She married her husband Joseph in 1958 and they made their home in Jamaica Plain until 1971, when they relocated their family to Pembroke, where they resided for over 50 years.
Carmela was happiest spending her time as a homemaker cooking for and laughing with her family and friends. She enjoyed many years traveling with her friends and especially her winters in Naples, Florida. Carmela loved flowers and looked forward to planting her spring and summer garden each year. A true fashionista, she insisted on having her hair done every week and wearing her jewelry every day. She was always prepared for the company that was sure to visit.
Carmela is survived by her brother Mario Romano and his wife Franca of Medford, MA; her sister Emilia Giordano and her husband Angelo of Palatine, IL; her sister in law Hilda Glover and her husband Steve of Plymouth; her sister in law Grace Romano of Aiken, South Carolina; her daughter Anna Papotto of Pembroke, MA, and her late husband, Michael Delaney; her daughter, Angela Mastrangelo, and her husband, Rock, of Middleton, MA; her son, Mario Papotto, and his wife, Karen, of Kingston, MA. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Joseph Papotto and his wife, Taylor, of Salem, NH; Jenna Gelson and her husband, Chris, of Bourne, MA; Julia Papotto of Kingston, MA; Anthony and Andrew Mastrangelo of Middleton, MA, her cherished great-grandchildren, Scarlett Papotto and Thomas J. Gelson; as well as many nieces, nephews and her dear friends Connie Marano and Louise and John Zucco.
Carmela was preceded in death by her brothers Nunzio Romano and Salvatore Romano.
We would also like to thank the staff at Stafford Hill Assisted Living in Plymouth and both Continuum and Cranberry Hospice for all their support during this difficult time.
Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday at St. Mary's Parish in Plymouth, MA. Burial will be private at a later date.
