Carolyn Thompson Cushman, 92, of Dunbarton, NH, formerly of Billerica, passed away quietly at the Lifecare Center of Plymouth on March 20, 2011.
She was the daughter of Christan and Nora (Fallon) Thompson. "Carly" was born on January 12, 1919 in the town of Winchester, MA. She was happily married to George R. Cushman for over 58 years. They were never blessed with children of their own, but they were loved by many.
Carolyn worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Boston. She started with the company when she graduated from Winchester High School. She worked her way up within the company and retired as Administrator of Information Services Advertising and Public Relations. She was admired and respected by all who knew her.
She and her husband retired to Dunbarton, NH and built their dream home. She was very active in St. Lawrence Church, traveled with the St. Lawrence Trippers and was a member of the Dunbarton Garden Club; she was also secretary for the Dunbarton Historical Society. She and George were very involved in the New Hampshire State Republican Party.
She leaves behind many nieces, nephews and god-children who will miss her terribly. She also leaves behind Martha Bartlett, who thought of her as a second mom.
Funeral arrangements will be made by the Bartlett Santos Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 from 9:30-10:30 AM. There will be a mass of Christian burial at St. Mary's Church on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Fox Hill Cemetery in Billerica. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend.
