Catherine (Lennartz) Hurd, 77, after a long illness and brave battle, died on December 28, 2011 with her family by her side in Holbrook, MA. At her request, a private memorial service will be held. She was born September 17, 1934 in Boston. She spent summers at her grandparents Negrotti farm in Hopedale, MA. She graduated from Dorchester HS for Girls and Northeastern University, where she played on the women's basketball team. Married William Hurd in 1955. After raising a large family, she embarked on a career at the Boston law firm, Hutchins & Wheeler until her retirement. She was a member of the Holbrook Garden Club, Weymouth Club, an avid reader, enjoyed family outings and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Peter Lennartz; mother Lucy Negrotti; and sister Claire Janson. Catherine is survived by her husband of 56 years, William; daughter and spouse, Donna and Kevin McDonough of Duxbury, MA; son William of Coventry, CT; son and spouse, Thomas and Christine Hurd of Holbrook, MA; son John of Weymouth, MA; son and spouse Charles and Carol Hurd of Quincy, MA; daughter and spouse Kathleen and David Kearney of Halifax, MA; daughter and spouse Helen and Stephen Manning of Hanover, MA; her beloved grandchildren, Kerry; Sean; Christopher; Denny; Michelle and Tess.
