David J. Basler, Sr. of Plymouth, MA, formerly of Kingston, passed away after a brief illness on August 11, 2017. He is survived by his loving wife Dolores Basler. He is also survived by six children: David Jr. Basler and Cyd Melcher of Three Rivers; Marianne Holden of Holyoke; Ellen and Chris Hardy of Plymouth; Paul and Maryanne Basler of Kingston; James and Cheryl Basler of Foxborough; and Janet Basler of Plymouth. He also leaves extended family: Frank and Robin Basler of Plymouth; Mark and Noemi Basler of Milpitas, CA; Debra Basler of Braintree; Susan and Mike Foley of Hingham; and Carolyn Couto of Duxbury. David leaves many grandchildren. David was born in South Boston, MA on August 25, 1939 and worked for over thirty years for Shaughnessy & Ahern Co. Crane Company. David enjoyed working with his hands, welding, travelling, and spending winters in Barefoot Bay, Florida. He was an avid reader, loved the History Channel, and learning new things. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00PM on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Moose Lodge, 601 State Road, Plymouth, MA which will be followed immediately by refreshments in Celebration of David's Life.
