Obituary

Mr. David F. Kelley, 88, formerly of Falmouth and Hingham Massachusetts, died peacefully in the presence of his family on October 15, 2021 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen after a brief illness. He was a beloved resident at Wingate/Haverhill for the past year.

After graduating from Notre Dame High School in New Haven, Connecticut, Mr. Kelley toured cross country playing varsity baseball while earning his Political Science degree from Providence College. He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals but didn't think he would make it to the Majors so he declined their offer. Insted, he chose to pursue his passion at Rhode Island School of Design by studying graphic design for two years before being drafted into the US Army serving in the Quartermaster Corps as an artist-illustrator from 1956 to 1958. He is past President of the Falmouth Artists Guild and South Shore Art Center with countless awards for his extensive work. He was a member of the Duxbury Art Association, the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod and the Falmouth Cultural Council as well as being a Cape Cod Art Association Master Artist and a Signature Member of The Pastel Society of America.

Mr. Kelley was predeceased by his parents, James E. Kelley and Grace A. Kelley of New Haven, Connecticut along with his only sibling, James E. Kelley, Jr. of Melrose Park, PA. He is survived by his wife Lucia Sorem of Falmouth, MA along with his four children, David F. Kelley Jr. of Waltham, MA, Bridget Kelley Nafranowicz of Pembroke, NH, Jonathan P. Kelley (wife Donna) of Harvard, MA and Aileen P. Kelley of Boston, MA. along with three grandchildren and 9 nieces and nephews.
