Obituary

David Alexander MacNeil passed away suddenly at South Shore Hospital on Nov 11, 2023. He

was 73 years old. He had battled cancer during the past year, and he was grateful for the

wonderful care he received at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Weymouth.

Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Robin MacNeil, and his son, who he was so

proud of, Brian MacNeil and his wife Luana Sambugaro.

Dave was predeceased by his parents Doris Wallace, Donald MacNeil, and his stepfather

Eugene Wallace. His bothers Edward MacNeil and Donald MacNeil.

He leaves behind his sisters Lillian MacNeil, Jean Marie Mason (husband Jack) Carol Langelier

and his brothers John MacNeil (wife Karen) and Robert Wallace (wife Lori). Also, his in-laws

Kathy and Steve Miller, Dennis and Stacie McLean and Robert McLean (deceased). He also

leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

It was so fitting that Dave died on Veteran's Day. He was so proud of his Military Service. He

served two years in the Navy and fought in the Vietnam War. He was a lifelong member and

past commander of the VFW Post in Middleboro.

Dave worked for several companies in shipping and receiving until he began work at UMass

Boston. While working there he attended many classes and ultimately earned his certificate as

a Drug and Alcohol Counselor. He worked several years for High Point in Plymouth until he

retired.

Dave had a great sense of humor, was quick to smile and had a wonderful laugh. In his younger

days he loved to play golf and was an avid ten pin bowler. Most Sundays you could find him at

the Raynham Flea Market, he rarely bought anything but just loved to walk around and

converse with the venders and patrons. He loved to travel and visited many sights in New

England. He traveled to Italy, Denmark, and Egypt. He was so proud of his Scottish Heritage and

hoped someday to visit Scotland and his family castle on the Isle of Barra.

Relatives and friends are invited to a military service at the Massachusetts National Cemetery,

Connery Ave, Buzzards Bay, MA on November 24, 2023 at 12:45. A reception immediately

following at the South Meadow Village Clubhouse in Carver, MA.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Dave's name to Dana Farber Cancer Institute or

the Disabled American Veterans.
