Dolores Nadeau Harrington 90, most recently of Plymouth, MA, passed into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, September 21st, 2024. She was the daughter of Louis and Germaine Nadeau and was born in Central Falls, RI where she attended St. Matthews Church and parochial School. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Armand Nadeau. And leaves her brother Emile Nadeau and sister Claire Phoenix, both of Lincoln, RI.
In 1955, She married Richard Longton and was the proud mother of her three children, Ralph Longton of Orangeburg, SC, Joann Bergeron of Plymouth, and Robert Longton of Berkley, MA. They lived for a number of years in Berkley, MA and spent summers in Onset, MA where they had a boat and would regularly take boating and fishing trips from Onset to Martha's Vineyard.
Dolores was a nurse at New England Siani in Stoughton for a number of years, before she became a health care worker for various Nursing facilities in the Westford Massachusetts area. She was predeceased by second husband, William Harrington in 2009, whom she married in 1981.
Dolores was a very active person and enjoyed boating, fishing and swimming and she especially loved tennis. In her early senior years she played tennis competitively and won the gold medal in the Senior Olympics in tennis. She played competitively in both singles and doubles tennis. In addition, she loved to travel and made a cross-country trip in an RV going all the way to Alaska.
Before moving to Plymouth in 2023 to live with her daughter Joann and grandson Raymond, she lived in the Ashville, North Carolina area and then for about 15 years in the Vero Beach, Florida area. While there, she attended and was active with the Vero Beach Alliance Church. After moving to Plymouth, she attended Bay Community Alliance Church. In addition to her brother and sister, Dolores leaves her three children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Mario Bergeron in 2017.
Funeral arrangements were made by the family through Bartlett Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life is being held Saturday, October 5th, at 1:00pm at Bay Community Alliance Church, 40 Cypress Street, Buzzards Bay, MA 02532.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dolores' memory to: St Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
