Obituary

Doris Margaret Tucker passed away on September 28, 2009, at eighty-eight years of age. She leaves behind a daughter, Donna M. Petrangelo, and a grandson, Christian D. Petrangelo, both of Plymouth, MA. Doris was born on November 15, 1920, in Bayonne, New Jersey, to Margaret and Joseph Lasko. As an adult she recalled fond memories of riding down the streets of Bayonne in a horse-drawn sleigh and visiting Coney Island and New York City. Doris grew up in Newark and later graduated from the New Jersey College for Women at Rutgers, where she majored in chemistry and German. During World War II she worked at Hoffman LaRoche in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics departments. After marrying Wilfred J. Tucker of Roselle Park, she spent the next portion of her life in Toms River, New Jersey, raising a family and enjoying the seasons at the Jersey shore. Following the death of her husband in 1978, Doris moved to Plymouth, where she cared for her grandson and volunteered at Hedge Elementary School, tutoring students in reading and writing. Doris also attended St. Mary's church in North Plymouth and enjoyed volunteering at the annual fairs. Throughout her life Doris was known for her sense of humor and critical honesty and will be greatly missed. A funeral mass will be celebrated on October 10th at St. Mary's Church in North Plymouth. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Mrs. Tucker's name to the Jordan Hospital, 275 Sandwich Street, Plymouth, MA 02360 or online at www.jordanhospital.org.
