IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eileen Palmer
Mallinson
June 5, 1944 – April 8, 2025
Eileen (Carmody) Palmer Mallinson 80, of Falmouth Ma died peacefully on April 8th, 2025 at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich, MA, after a winter of declining health and illness. Born June 5, 1944, in Somerville Ma. Eileen was the daughter of John T. and Alice B Carmody.
She moved with her family to Concord Mass when she was 9.
Eileen grew up in Concord, her love of the arts was demonstrated through all medium forms including talent as a soprano singer. Eileen was active in chorus, embraced every musical production she performed in, and every stage set she painted or created. Her love of the arts and musical theater carried with her throughout her life. "Leenie" was the vice-president of her class, on the cheer squad, on the majorette squad and known by all as being fun, bright and creative. She graduated from Concord Carlisle High School in 1962 and attended Mass College of Art before marrying her first husband Lenny and starting her family.
Eileen raised her family as she lived her life, with unconditional love, kindness, patience, generosity and understanding. She ensured her family had the opportunities to sample all life has to offer, summer vacations to the beach, family tickets to the theater at Christmas time, instilled appreciation for tradition while supporting individualism. She pushed and encouraged her children to strive in school, athletics, and the arts to choose their own paths with confidence and knowledge.
Eileen returned to the workforce part time in the 1980's. Her talents were quickly recognized, as she moved into the booming computer industry as a graphic designer and brand identity manager for Digital Equipment Corporation. She relished her time at Digital and thrived in the bustle of building the DEC world conventions annually, enjoyed travel opportunities and succeeded in ensuring the image of Digital Corp was recognized globally.
Eileen married Don Mallinson on September 22, 1992 and lived a second life full of adventures and travel. She and Don enjoyed time living on their catamaran 'Exultation' (2001-2002), before moving to Middletown, RI. During these years Eileen re-engaged in her love of painting. She worked part-time at the Newport Art Association, took classes, became an accomplished watercolorist and showed her work both in gallery and during fairs and events throughout the year.
Eileen and Don traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe. Their travel modes of plane, train, river boat, car and camper van were all a part of each adventure.
Eileen continued her love of painting throughout each adventure and the catalog of paintings show off these locations.
In 2012, Eileen moved into her new 'net zero' home with Don. The design and dream of this environmentally green home was Don's. The home was built in Falmouth, Mass., the location of Eileen's children and families. Eileen and Don enjoyed many community events on the Cape including their season tickets attending the simulcast of the MET opera as broadcast from the Dennis playhouse. Eileen continued her engagement and support of the arts as a volunteer at the Falmouth Art center.
Eileen's greatest joy is being close, present and involved in her family's and grandchildren's lives. She is the best 'grammy', attending dance recitals, baseball and softball games, swim meets, hockey games, band concerts and more. Always being the performer of the evening's biggest fan.
Daughter, sister, wife, mother, proud grandmother, artist, creative mind and giver of unconditional love, Eileen was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years Donald F. Mallinson, sibling Carol A. Lyons, and daughter Deborah M. Palmer.
