Obituary for Elizabeth (Beth) Davis

Elizabeth "Beth" Davis, age 65, of Plymouth, Massachusetts, passed away on October 27, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.

Beth was born on July 14, 1960, in Boston, Massachusetts, to William F. Buckley and Geralde (Sweeney) Buckley. She grew up in Whitman, MA graduating from Cardinal Spellman High School and later earning a degree in Nutrition from Framingham State College. She lived most of her married life in Duxbury and Auckland, New Zealand.

On October 12, 1985, Beth married Rick Davis, and together they shared 40 wonderful years of marriage. Their life together was full of love, travel, adventure, and helping people. Beth invited countless wandering travelers and families who didn't have a place to live into her home, making them part of her family.

A Registered Dietitian by training, Beth worked in pharmaceutical sales, spending much of her career with Pfizer Oncology in both the United States and New Zealand. Her professional life reflected her compassion and commitment to helping others live longer, healthier lives. She used her knowledge and experience to help many women around the world with breast cancer, both in person and in online boards.

Beth lived an active and adventurous life. In her younger years, she competed in triathlons and marathons, and her love of the outdoors never waned. She completed an 8-month trip around the world after she finished graduate school, loving her time exploring New Zealand, Thailand, Nepal, and Europe. She especially loved biking and swimming—never missing a chance to take a dip wherever she was. During her years living in New Zealand, she embraced the country's natural beauty, enjoying its beaches, hiking trails, and close-knit community of friends. Beth also discovered Dragon Boat Racing, becoming an inspiration to many as she helped her New Zealand team win two medals in the World Masters Games.

Beth's physical strength, determination, positive attitude and passion for life and having fun sustained her during her illness. She was always up for a bike ride or a swim. So many friends have commented that Beth never let her illness define her, she always kept moving forward, and she never dwelled on the past or felt sorry for herself because of her physical ailments. Her long-time oncologist in Boston paid her an incredible compliment when evaluating her chemo treatments: "There's nobody on the planet who will use any extra time they have better than you, Beth."

Beth is survived by her beloved husband Rick Davis; her children Ian Davis and his wife Rina, her cherished grandson Micah; Molly Flanders and her husband Chase; her mother Geralde Buckley; her siblings Maura Troiano, Julie Warnock, and Martin Buckley; and many nieces and nephews who adored their "Auntie Beth." She was predeceased by her father, William F. Buckley.

Beth will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, generosity, strength, and deep love for her family and friends. She lived each day with joy, courage, and gratitude—leaving behind a legacy of kindness, perseverance, and adventure. Beth loved people and making connections. When you were speaking with Beth, she made you feel like you were the only person in the world at that moment. Beth saw the good in everyone that she met. She enjoyed nothing more than making a connection between someone she had just met and another friend or experience in her life. There were countless times when among friends, someone would state that they were all in the same room or gathering at that moment because of Beth, that she made those connections, and that their lives were so enriched by knowing her. A Kiwi friend put it best: "Beth was the best of us".

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth, MA.
