Ellen J. Serafini, 65, formerly of Weymouth, died peacefully Saturday January 29th, at Cape Cod Hospital surrounded by her children, after a 4 month battle with lung cancer. She was the daughter of the late, Harold and Elva (DeRusha) Donovan, of Weymouth. She was born in Weymouth, later moving to Plymouth with her late husband David R. Serafini where they lived for 25 years. Ellen worked for over 20 years with children with special needs. She touched the lives of many of those children and their families especially those families she helped out beyond the scope of her job. Ellen enjoyed traveling and vacationing to Martha's Vineyard, Vermont and New Jersey with her friends and family. Ellen also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. She was the devoted mother of Lisa Serafini of Canton, Dineen Soares and her husband Todd, of Plymouth and David Serafini Jr. and his wife Kate of Mashpee. She was the loving grandmother of the late David Soares, and she leaves behind Ryan, James, and Delaney. She is survived by her brother Jack Donovan and his wife Diane of Vermont, and her sister Beatrice Doherty and her late husband Edward of New Jersey along with several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements will be made by the Bartlett-Santos Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be on Thursday, February 3rd from 4:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. A mass of Christian burial will be at St. Mary's Church, Plymouth, on Friday, February 4th at 10:00 AM Interment will follow at Vine Hills Cemetery in Plymouth. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
