Eugene Dorr Cobb (Gene) passed away peacefully on January 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 24, 1958, in Syracuse, NY to father David and Mother Janet.

Gene was gentle and kind and had a generous spirit. He had a distinctive, calm voice, quiet demeanor, and sincere gentlemanly qualities. He was loved and respected. He was a true Renaissance man.

Gene graduated from Columbia High School, East Greenbush, NY and attended college at the University of Buffalo, NY. His considerable talents included musician, craftsman, dancer, athlete, and farmer.

As a cranberry farmer Gene owned and operated Burgess Bog Co. for over 30 years in Carver, MA. Gene comes from a family of musicians and his instrument of choice was the electric guitar. He especially enjoyed his time as a member of the band Synergy. Gene was a dancer and, with his wife Martha as his partner, he participated in ballroom competitions, showcases and once performed as a principal dancer in a movie pilot. As an athlete, he and Martha were members of a local summer adult volleyball league for many years. He was on the board of directors of South Shore Dancers and a member of the South Shore Spyder Riders Club.

Gene loved life, his family and all things outdoors. Twice a year Gene and Martha could be found at their camp in Maine, bathing in the river in summer or snowmobiling in winter.

He is survived by his loving wife Martha Cobb Kelly; son Tristan Cobb and partner Kelly Malone; grandson Oscar P. Cobb Malone; father David A. Cobb and wife Mary Cobb; sister Emily Higgins and husband Chuck; brother John Cobb and wife Sara; brother Timothy Cobb and wife Diane Barere; and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street. A viewing will take place from 4 -7pm on February 2 at the funeral home. A memorial service will follow immediately after.
