Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eugene (Gene) Stanley Tanderes Jr. Gene, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on March 25 at his home in Kingston.

Gene is survived by his children Travis and Amber Tanderes. He was the beloved brother of Cheryl Nickerson and her husband Wally, and uncle to Mindy and Jamie Nickerson. He also leaves behind his stepbrothers, Kenneth Manchester of Florida and David Still of Arizona, as well as several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene S. Tanderes Sr. and Marilyn F. (Pretoni) Tanderes.

Born on May 5, 1954, in Barnstable, Gene grew up in Plymouth and was a proud graduate of Plymouth-Carver High School, Class of 1972. One of his first and most beloved jobs was working at the Getty service station at the end of South Street in Plymouth, fondly known as "Doc's Garage." Gene later served in the Air National Guard and went on to dedicate 25 years to the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station, working in security.

Gene loved the ocean and could often be found kayaking along the coast. His passion for music was well known, with a particular fondness for Fleetwood Mac. He was happiest when he had a project in front of him—whether it was working on computers, cars, or anything electronic, Gene always had something to tinker with.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Gene's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
