Evelyn T. (Lima) Masdea passed away on September 14, 2021, surrounded by her family at the age of 99. Beloved wife of the late William A. Masdea, loving mother of Patricia McCarthy (and her late husband Paul McCarthy) and William Masdea, cherished grandmother of Sean McCarthy and Cheryl Lucchetti, and great-grandchildren, Ryan and Devin. Evelyn was born November 28, 1921 and was raised in Chelmsford by her grandparents. She was the youngest of five children. While working as a nurses aide, she met and married the love of her life, Bill. They lived in South Boston for many years where she raised her children and helped run the family's dry cleaning business. She later moved to Pembroke where she lived for many years as well as Kingston and Marshfield. Evelyn had a great love for family, food and tradition and for many years could be found in the kitchen wearing her apron preparing a delicious meal or baking delectable desserts as she was always hosting dinner, particularly during the holidays. She also enjoyed sewing and made everything from clothing to custom curtains and of course the occasional trip to Foxwoods with her husband Bill. For those of us who were lucky enough to call her mom, nana, gigi or friend, we will always remember Evelyn for her warm smile, her gentle spirit, her eternally positive outlook on life, her words of wisdom and her endless love and support. We are grateful to have had her in our lives for so many wonderful years and she will be dearly missed. A private graveside service will be held in the Mayflower Cemetery of Duxbury.
