Frank Joseph Catania, 70 of Barnstable, MA and Naples, FL passed away peacefully in July 2, 2022 with his loving wife Kathy and sister Debra by his side.
Frank was the first born child of Vincent and Marie Catania soon to be followed by 5 siblings. Frank was the epitome of the oldest brother and all 5 siblings have wonderful and entertaining stories to tell of their early years together. Frank spent his career working in the family businesses starting at the Pewter Pot Muffin House and then the Catania Hospitality Group which owns and operates the Hearth 'n Kettle restaurants, the Cape Codder Resort in Hyannis and the Dan'l Webster Inn in Sandwich.
He was active in the community sitting on various committees through the years and was a former president of the Hyannis Chamber of Commerce. During his tenure he was proud to bring to Hyannis the first Father's Day Vintage Car Show which is still active today.
He retired in 2007 to spend more time enjoying life and that he did! Frank loved cars (from sports cars to vintage), motorcycles, boats (owned one of the first hybrid motor sail boats), golf (he was a member of Cummaquid Golf Club for many years), watching the Celtics with his brothers and his winters in Florida.
Frank has many friends, business acquaintances and employees who benefited from his kindness and ability to make one feel important to him when in his presence or in conversation. He had a wonderful sense of humor and streak of sarcasm if you knew him well. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and the many people who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife Kathy Akerson Catania, his mother Marie Catania, his sister Debra Catania, his brothers Steven Catania and his wife Kathy, Richard Catania, William Catania and his wife Libby, Robert Catania and his wife Sheri. His aunts Adeline Carter and Rita Campbell, several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Vincent Catania and uncle Joseph Santo.
A burial mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Tuesday 7/12/22 at Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Rd, East Sandwich, MA 02537. Burial will immediately follow at Sandwich Town Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations in Frank's memory may be made to: VNA/McCarthy Care Center, 73 Service Road, East Sandwich, MA 02537
