IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frank Paul
Martines
July 25, 1937 – July 11, 2025
Frank P. Martines Jr., of West Yarmouth, MA, formerly of Bedford and Chelmsford, passed away on July 11, 2025. Born on July 25, 1937, his father joked, "You were born on the hottest day of the year, and from that day on, you've been causing heat."
Frank was raised in Bedford, MA, where he spent the first four decades of his life working on his family's dairy farm, Blue Ribbon Dairy. He loved recalling stories of football games, car racing, and life on the farm—memories he shared often and with joy. He later settled in Chelmsford, MA, where he and his beloved wife Sandy, his "honey" of more than 60 years, raised their four daughters. Upon retirement, Frank and Sandy moved to West Yarmouth, where they cherished their time together by the sea.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Frank was a pillar of strength, known for his hard work, strong convictions, and unwavering dedication to his family. He was deeply patriotic, proud of his Italian heritage, and a proud American who always flew the flag and respected those who served—especially military personnel, police officers, and firefighters. He served honorably with the Massachusetts National Guard Yankee Division during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Frank spent many years as Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds for the Chelmsford Public Schools. He took immense pride in his work and frequently credited his dedicated team for the schools' upkeep. His stories from this time—full of camaraderie and good humor—were some of his favorites.
In retirement, Frank remained active in his community, volunteering with the West Yarmouth Crime Watch, the Recycling and Solid Waste Advisory Committee, and the Yarmouth Police Service Program. He also worked part-time for the Yarmouth Cemetery Department, proudly maintaining the town's cemeteries up until earlier this year.
An avid outdoorsman, Frank enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, camping, fishing, and had a special love for Corvettes. He valued life's simple pleasures and the deep connections he shared with family and friends.
Frank is survived by his four daughters, whom he adored and protected throughout his life: Kimberly and Jacques Ricard of Goffstown, NH; Donna and Charles Dahlgren of Chelmsford, MA; Christina and Robert Baroni of Derry, NH; and Tami Blanchette and Bruce Thompson of Orange, MA. He also leaves behind his sister Lillian McDonough of Pelham, NH; his cousin Joseph Martines and wife Mary of Carlisle, MA; twelve grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Frank's enduring love for his wife Sandy and the life they built together will forever be remembered. He is now reunited with her, at peace and in love once again.
A celebration of Frank's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Cape Cod Police K-9 Relief Fund, P.O. Box 582, South Dennis, MA 02660.
