Obituary

Frederick C. Pow, aged 65, of Plymouth, MA, passed away after a long illness on February 17th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

"We are his legacy, this is his legend"

Where to begin....

Fred was born on July 14th, 1959 in Boston, MA to his loving parents, John and Eleanor (McLaughlin) Pow. He grew up in Scituate, MA. He was proud to work for the family lithography business, John P. Pow Co., started by his grandfather. He was a hard worker, a troublemaker, a good father and most importantly a dedicated grandfather. Most knew him as Fred, others may have known his alias "Rico", but to his children and grandchildren he was "Pops".

Fred lived his life following the golden rule; he did not want anyone to tell him how to live his life and he did not tell anyone else how to live theirs. You could say he was a free spirit, but he was no "hippie", Fred was very "punk rock!". Though he would dress and look like a man you may not want to approach, his inviting smile and personality was magnetic. Fred was a good friend, laughing and easy-going.

In his free time, Fred enjoyed travel and adventure. Riding his motorcycles, white water rafting, sporting events, and concerts were some of his favorite pastimes. Fred would spend his summers vacationing in the White Mountains and celebrated holidays with his children and grandchildren. No one wanted him to leave, everybody enjoyed his company.

After retirement, Fred adopted his dog Gemma and began his dream to build a luxury cabin in NH to share with friends and family. He spent countless hours perfecting the details and working to complete the cabin, while enjoying his retirement with his dog, "d'ya like dags?". Fred spent time traveling with Gemma in his camper, leaving an impression on the different people that they met along the way. There is definitely someone in SC who remembers a man and his dog from MA breaking all the rules.

He leaves behind his four children, John (Christin-Rose), Thomas, Leah (Rufus Wilson) and Kate Pow of Plymouth, MA; his seven adoring grandchildren, Zarah Lindquist, Rylee and Aislinn-Rose Pow, Leeson, Laydell and Reia Wilson of Plymouth, MA, and Destiny Damacena of Harwich, MA; his brothers John Jr. (Jacqueline) of Milton, MA, David (Misti Dragano) Pow of Annapolis, MD and sister-in-law Jeanne Stewart, of Duxbury, MA, whose husband Terry Pow, Fred's brother, is predeceased; his nephews John III and Jeremiah, and his niece, Sophia Pow; respected coworkers from over the years; a select few friends that he thought were interesting enough to actually engage in social behavior with, and his dog, "Sweet Gemma Vidalia Onion".

Fred's life was cut short after battling cancer, but he spent the last two years of his life with his children and grandchildren. He was always there to support the ones he loved. He would give without thought and never wanted anything in return. Fred leaves a large void in all of our hearts, the love he shared will continue to be with us forever and we will need each other to try to fill that void.

We love you "Pops".
