Obituary

Garret Kenneth Doonan January 10, 1990 -August 4, 2017 Of Plymouth MA. Passed away Saturday August 4th of 2017. Garret is survived by his daughter Layla Estelle Doonan, his son Keenan Alexander Doonan and his beloved fiancé Nicole Ingraham of Onset as well as his parents Jane and Richard Doonan, his brother Richard,and his wife Monica. He will be missed by his niece & nephews, Kilah, Richard and Jacob Doonan. He is the brother of the late Noele Doonan also of Plymouth and the grandson of Richard Doonan & the late Joan Doonan both of Florida and the late Daniel & Ann Romano of Kingston. Garret is survived by many cousins and aunts and uncles. He attended Plymouth South High School before joining the Mass National Guard at the age of 17. Garret attended AIT at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri where he was awarded the Army Marksmen Award. He was assigned to the 772 Military Police Company out of Taunton MA and then the 747 Military Police Company out of Ware MA. He was deployed to Iraq with the 747 MP CO from August 2009 to July 2010. Garret was awarded the Army commendation medal and many other awards and ribbons for his time in Iraq. He most recently worked at the family campground in South Plymouth. Garret was an avid reader, he loved the classics and poetry. He loved music and movies of all kinds but especially anything military or history related. There was nothing better than spending time fishing with his nephew Jacob and shooting with his uncles. His children, family and friends were always a priority for him. His favorite moments were spent with his closest friends sharing laughs and memories. He never turned down anyone in need. He spent many days at the VA hospital in Brockton and during his free time there he loved sitting with the older veterans and listening to their stories and reading to those who couldn't do it for themselves. Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett funeral home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, August 11, 2017. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, on Saturday August 12, at St. Bonaventure Church 801 State Rd., Plymouth. Interment will follow in Cederville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Garret's name to Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
