Obituary

George L Berardi passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026. Born on January 3, 1954, George was the son of George A Berardi and Edna Francis Murdoch Berardi. He was a lifelong resident of Plymouth. Attending Plymouth schools he was a standout football player.

In his early years George worked locally as a mason, a time he spoke fondly of. Later George became a fixture on the Plymouth waterfront, first working on many of the local fishing boats and then later working at Woods Seafood not only as an employee but as a mentor to many other employees.

In his life George hit hard times, became homeless and an alcoholic. His greatest pride was in becoming sober after the death of his mother as a way of honoring her. With the help of the Salvation Army and Father Bills he found the resources he needed to help him along..

His path towards sobriety started in 2006 and both organizations helped him continue on the path of recovery, providing housing assistance and counseling. George secured a job at Woods Seafood in 2008 and worked there for nearly fifteen years. He has always been grateful for the opportunity. He was a friend of Bills for 20 years.

As a way to give back to those that helped him, George donated his truck and time every week helping the Plymouth Coalition for the Homeless moving furniture and the homeless from one shelter to another. He also volunteered his time for an annual Salvation Army fundraiser each July.

Though George had many friends who will undoubtedly remember him there are a special few to recognize. Mike Furlong was a true friend and his constant cribbage partner. They will now be able to play again.

And perhaps most of all Kristen. She was his caretaker and best friend providing unwavering support, meals and conversation for the past fifteen years.

For all the people that crossed paths with George, he will be missed by all of us. His wish of having his ashes spread over Plymouth harbor by Bug Light will be fulfilled this spring.

Donations in Georges memory can be made to Salvation Army Plymouth 52 Long Pond Road Plymouth, MA or Father Bills 430 Belmont Street, Brockton MA 02301
