Obituary

On March 18, 2020 surrounded by his loving wife and 3 children, George Curtis Haight passed away at the age of 79. George was born in Boston, MA to Arnold and Christine Haight. After graduating from North Quincy High School, George attended Boston Architectural Center before becoming a registered architect. He practiced primarily in Massachusetts as well as several neighboring states. After practicing in Boston & Hingham for several years, George opened his own architectural firm in 1978. George had many hobbies such as taking and developing photos, stained glass, drawing, and his love/hate relationship with golf. George enjoyed traveling, but his happiest travel destination was always his home away from home, the house on the hill in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, especially when joined by his kids and their families. While in Cape Breton he loved hosting a good Scottish cèilidh, traveling around the island to visit family and finding the best places to go clam digging. He was a longtime member of the United Church of Christ in Norwell. He loved music and sang in the church choir. George is predeceased by his father Arnold, his mother Christine, his brothers Richard and Robert, and his son-in-law Francis Condon, husband of daughter Alison. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years Evelyn (McGowan), his three children Valerie (Tad) Donaldson, Alison Condon, Jeffrey (Elaine) Haight all of Duxbury, as well as grandchildren Aaron, Kelsey, Lydia, Alec, Nathalie, Cameron, Andrew and great-grandchildren Skye and Mason. He is also survived by his brothers Arnold, Paul and David as well as several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the United Church of Christ, Norwell at later date due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Donations in his memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
