Gregory "Greg" Donald Urquhart, 61, died on Friday, March 22, 2024 at home in South Dennis. He was born on December 4, 1962 in Bronxville, New York to Raymond Miles and Eileen Urquhart. For over a year and a half Greg lived courageously while fighting cancer with a quiver full of arrows.

Greg was a 1980 graduate of Cape Cod Tech and went on to study at Cape Cod Community College. He attended Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. Later in his career, Greg worked for the Department of Public Works with the town of Dennis for twenty five years until his retirement in 2019. Because of Greg's love for gardening he accepted a job at the Great = Cape Herbs Farm in Brewster for several years. He was affectionately known as "Farmer Greg." Greg planted over 2,000 bulbs at the farm and never forgot to say a prayer as he planted each one. He was a man of many talents. He was a self-taught artist who painted with oils and water colors, and drew with pen and ink. Greg has always been known as a gentle soul with a generous spirit and a quick wit. He loved to fish and for as long as he could, he went quahogging and made his specialty stuffed quahogs. He loved to read and study countries of the world, appreciated great jazz, loved sports, and followed the weather and the tides. Greg played a U.S. soldier in the classic film "Apocalypse Now" while living in the Philippines during high school.

He received outstanding care including chemotherapy and surgery at Dana Farber and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, radiation on Cape Cod as well as VNA Hospice during his long journey with cancer.

Greg was predeceased by his father, Raymond M. Urquhart, two brothers, David and Stephen Urquhart. He is survived by his mother, Eileen Urquhart, his brother, Dale and his wife, Veronica, his brother, Bryan, and his sister, Janice Urquhart. Additionally, he is survived by sister-in-laws Claudine Urquhart and Kathy Urquhart. Greg is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and close friends.

Greg leaves a legacy of genuine kindness, gratitude, creativeness, and love for family, friends, and the earth. He will be remembered for his courage and having the most gentle soul.

A service to honor Greg's life will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Northside United Methodist Church, 701 Airline Road, Brewster, MA. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall following the interment of ashes in the memorial garden. The family has retained the services of Bartlett Funeral Home of Plymouth, MA.
