Obituary

Champ, Hannah, 89, of Natick, formerly of Plymouth, passed away quietly at Mary Ann Morse with her family by her side on Thursday, January 22, 2015. She was born in Castlegregory, County Kerry, Ireland, the daughter of the late James and Ellen (Crowley) Gogarty. Hannah was raised and educated in Ireland before moving to London, England. There, she attended nursing school in Whipps Cross. She moved to the United States in 1948 and continued her nursing career, first settling in Somerville before eventually making her home in Plymouth and later Natick. Hannah was involved in politics and loved to dance. She went swimming every day and lived an independent life. Hannah was the loving wife of the late Joseph Champ. She was the mother of Joseph Champ of Ashby, Ellen Browne of SC, Siobhan Blackwell of MD and Ina Steiner of Natick. She is survived by her siblings, Teresa O'Dwyer of Ireland and Sr. DeLourdes Gogarty of Ireland. She was the adoring grandmother of 6 grandchildren - Kate, Seamus, Maggie, Jake, Carly, and Samuel, and three great-grandchildren - Amelia, Declan, and Violet. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews including Gene O'Shea and Jimmy O'Shea of Plymouth. She was preceded in death by her siblings Ina O'Shea, Harry Gogarty, Nell Keating, Mai Moriarty and Tony Gogarty. Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 25th from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 26th at 9:00 am at St. Bonaventure Church, 803 State Road, Plymouth. Interment will immediately follow at Manomet Cemetery.
