Hans Williams Peterson - April 28, 1955 – May 20, 2025
Hans Peterson, 70 of Kingston MA, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on May 20th , 2025. Born in New Britian, CT on April 28 th 1955. He spent most of his childhood growing up on Elm Street in Kingston, graduating from Silver Lake High School in 1973.
He enjoyed living in his home town and kept in touch with many of his old friends who got together annually. Hans was a well-respected craftsman owning his own business for over 40 years. Starting in the late seventies with his partner Brien Robare Hans gained recognition for his quality of work. After Brien relocated to Florida Hans continued to grow his business locally. He repaired, renovated, and built many beautiful homes during his career. All of this done with a crew that was mostly family – something he prided himself on.
Hans married the love of his life, Cheryl, on September 30, 1989 at Saquish Beach. Their love for each other was unmatched. Together they raised three wonderful children, Kenny, Becky, and Eric. Hans and Cheryl celebrated their love annually by taking trips to their favorite spots in the Berkshires and Cape Cod.
Devoted Grampa to five grandchildren, Jacob, Jillian, Brody, Owen, and Hunter.
Son of the late Eleanor Peterson-Allen and Dr. Herbert Gerhard Peterson Jr. Hans is survived by his seven siblings, Gary, Lance, Pete, Erik, Gretchen, Francie and Priscilla.
Hans was a hardworking, adventurous, fun-loving family man and great storyteller. He enjoyed his time in the woods hunting, fishing, hiking and camping. Outside of his love for nature, he enjoyed gardening, cooking, writing, music, and spending time with his beloved pets. One of Hans' most memorable stories told was his hike along the Appalachian Trail with his brother Erik. Hiking all the way from Georgia to Massachusetts with just a backpack and his hiking stick. He loved spending time with his family, especially during their annual family camping trip in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. He loved telling stories around the campfire to his grandchildren, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
There will be a celebration of life for both Hans and Cheryl, Sunday August 10th from 1-6 at the Hilltop Pavilion, Pottle St. Kingston.
