IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Henry A
Ferrari
February 8, 1929 – April 9, 2023
Henry Anthony Ferrari passed away from natural causes on April 9, 2023,
surrounded by his loving family and devoted caregivers. He was known to family,
friends, and business colleagues as a warm and generous man who loved being
with people and approached life until the end with a sense of humor.
Henry was born in Quincy on February 8, 1929 to the late Enrico and Leontina
(Dellalucca) Ferrari. He grew up on Whiting Street in Plymouth with his brothers
Paul and David and attended the Plymouth public schools. When he was old
enough to work, he was employed at the Cordage Company and also as a delivery
driver for a Pepsi bottling company in town. He was vice president of the
Plymouth High School class of 1946 and a member of the football team. He
continued to play football in college, as well as semi-pro as a lineman for the
Plymouth Rockets.
Henry graduated from Brown University with a bachelor's degree in 1950.
Throughout his college years he dated his future wife, Joan Rossi from Kingston.
They were married at St. Peter's church on July 4, 1951. After college, he enlisted
in the Marines and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. He was
deployed to Korea as a captain in the first Marine tactical division. He was proud
of his service as a Marine and later in life would often wear his Korean War
Veteran cap.
When Henry returned from Korea he began working at his father's insurance
agency, Cape Insurance, which he eventually took over. He also owned Cape
Travel and had many other business ventures in town. He was a member of the
Lions Club, the Cabot Club, the Plymouth Yacht Club, and served on several
Plymouth town committees. He and Joan traveled extensively with the Professional
Insurance Agents Association, as well as many trips to San Cristoforo, Italy to visit
his father's relatives. With his family, he enjoyed boat outings, ski trips to New
Hampshire, and large dinners which he loved to prepare. Upon retirement he and
Joan lived at White Cliffs, where he golfed with the Tuesday Tulips, and spent
winters at their condo in Juno Beach, Florida. He was an active volunteer at both
Jordan Hospital and Jupiter Hospital and served as a guardian ad litum in West
Palm Beach.
Henry is survived by his wife Joan (Rossi), his daughter Susan Dwyer and her
husband John, his daughter Lisa Sampson, his daughter Carla Ibelle and her
husband Bill, his son Peter Ferrari and his wife Yvette; his grandchildren Ivan and
his wife Camila, Matthew, Lindsay and her husband Frank, Andrew and his wife
Amanda, Max, Taylor, Julia and her husband Chris, Dominique and her husband
Trey, Malina and her husband Matt, and Jackson; his great-grandchildren

Henry was preceded in death by his son Robert, his brothers Paul and David, and
his son-in-law Stephen Sampson.

take place at the Funeral Home on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 1:30 - 3:30.
