Rev. Ivan H. Crossman, formerly of Colrain, MA, and currently Plymouth, MA went home to be with the Lord on August 9, 2021 after a period of declining health.
The third of seven children, he was born to Gerald and Grace Crossman on April 22, 1927, in Ira, VT. He was the husband of Lillian (Frayling) Crossman for 67 years. He was a graduate of West Rutland High School, Providence Bible Institute and Gordon-Conwell Seminary.
Rev. Crossman was called as the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Colrain, MA immediately after graduating from seminary in 1957. He pastored the congregation at First Baptist, proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ there for 36 years. During this period, he was also active in the work of the Baptist General Conference in New England. After retiring from the pastorate in 1993 he served an additional 21 years with Community Chaplain Service as a chaplain in several nursing homes first in the Greenfield,MA area and then in the Plymouth, MA area.
Survivors include his wife and their three sons, Mark Crossman (Lily) of New Bedford, MA, Daniel Crossman (Suzanne) of Gloucester, MA, and Paul Crossman (Sue) of Pembroke, MA. In addition, he leaves behind seven grandchildren; Heather Woods (Johan), Jonathan Crossman (Debbie), Laura Crossman, Andrew Crossman (Elizabeth), Peter Crossman, Brennen Crossman and Gillian Crossman and his four great grandchildren; Phinehas, Emmett, Owen and Hannah Crossman. He is also survived by siblings Olive (John) Stevens, Dean (Connie) Crossman and John (Linda) Crossman as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11 am at First Baptist Church of Colrain, MA.
