James J. Gadbois Obituary – November 11, 1943 – April 6, 2023

Jim was the son of James and Catherine Bonanno Gadbois, husband of Patricia Cosgrove Gadbois and father to Michelle and James Gadbois. Jim was born in Brookline, Massachusetts on November 11, 1943.

Jim lived his life to love his wife, his children and grandchildren, his parents and brother, and his extended family. He believed in commitment to work, love, family and friendships. We all felt his deep love and we will cherish Jim for the rest of our lives; we were blessed to have him for as long as we did.

Jim was a unique man among men. All who know Jim describe him as a thoughtful, gentle and generous man who cared more about others than himself. Mr. Gadbois loved his forty-five year career as a teacher, class advisor, coach and administrator at St. Mary's in Waltham and in the Plymouth, Duxbury and Old Rochester public schools. Those who had the pleasure of working with Jim know that his strong work ethic was valued by all. He enjoyed being a high school educator and administrator; his relationships with his students and colleagues gave him his greatest pleasure.

Jim enjoyed cooking for his family, vegetable gardening, weight lifting, crossword puzzles and his engagement with students and their families as well as his co-workers. He was very proud of his wife, children, and grandchildren and he enjoyed his home.

Jim attended St. Ann's in Dorchester as a young student and graduated from Boston College High School in 1961. Jim majored in Classical Languages and received his Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees from Boston College in 1965 and 1967 respectively. Jim taught English and Latin during the early years of his career at St. Mary's and Plymouth. Jim continued to further his education at Bridgewater State College and held the administrative roles of Dean of Students in Plymouth and Vice Principal in Duxbury and Old Rochester. During his retirement, Jim cared for his father, James Gadbois, at his home in Plymouth through 2017.

A funeral mass will be held in Jim's honor on April 15 at 10:30 at the Church of St. Peter, 86 Court Street in Plymouth.
