James Gray Sr., age 79, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, March 8, 2025. He was born January 21,1946 in Boston, MA and grew up in Auburn, MA where he graduated Auburn High School and met his high school sweetheart Mary Gray. They were happily married for 56 years.

James attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he received a bachelor's degree in Accounting. James was a member of the Army National Guard, and worked for Polar Beverages for thirteen years, then US Spring for seven years and was relocated to Cape Cod. From there he worked for Barnstable County House of Corrections for eighteen years as a Correctional Officer while also running his own landscape business. After retiring he became a Barnstable County Deputy Sheriff and a Transportation Officer for Nantucket county.

In his free time, James was an avid golfer, enjoyed poker nights with his friends and playing the lottery. In the warmer months he would tend to his blueberry bushes and vegetable garden including fresh zucchinis for his wife Mary's famous zucchini bread. He also enjoyed relaxing in the backyard poolside with family and friends. James also had a love for labrador retrievers which he had many of throughout his life.

James is survived by his son James Jr. and his wife Elanie, granddaughters Angelique and Gabriella, brother Frank and his wife Diane and their two sons Jason and Travis, his brother Donald and his wife Patrice and their daughter, Alyssa, Kate, and Anna. James is predeceased by wife Mary Gray, daughter Michelle, father Frank and mother Helen.

James was a well respected member of his community and loved by friends and family. Sincere thank you to close family friends Ritchie Higginbothem, Jimmy Finch, Jimmy Walsh, and Joan Morin.

Private services will be held.
