Jeffrey S. (Jeff) Bell, Sr. was born February 1, 1942 to Russell D. Bell, Jr. and Elizabeth Bramel Stigall in
Bourbon County (Paris), KY.
Jeffrey served in the US Navy on the USS Willard Keith and the USS Brainbridge in Quincy MA where
he met his wife, Marie Ainslie Bell and raised his family in Plymouth, Massachusetts. He attended
Wentworth Institute of Technology and earned a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from
Northeastern University. Jeffrey was a proud and dedicated employee of Polaroid Corporation for over
30 years and ended his career at DigiMart in Fort Wayne Indiana. Upon the age of 50, Jeffrey began a
lifelong passion for running. Participating in Chicago and Florida marathons (including the Inaugural
Walt Disney World Marathon) qualifying him for multiple Boston Marathons. In 1994, he proudly
finished in 3:21:35. Later, Jeff became a collector and historian for antique hand school bells. A past
time he took great pleasure in while researching for his book. Jeff retired to Ocala Florida where he was
enthusiastic with year round activities enjoying his many beloved friends amongst his community.
He is survived and mourned by; his son Jeffrey S. Bell Jr (Maryann) of Marshfield, Michael R. Bell Sr.
(proceeded in death by Jayne) of Wareham, his daughter Teresa M. Bailey (Steven) of Plymouth.
Grandad will be missed by his 9 treasured grandchildren; James and Brian Bell, Michael Jr., Ryan,
Benjamin and Cassandra Bell and also Jocelyn, Wade and Charlotte Bailey. He leaves behind a brother
Russell W. Bell III (Sam) of Berea KY, his sister Suzanne Bell Edwards (Patrick) of Franklin OH and his
many cherished nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death by his parents and his beloved brother Eugene B. Bell.
Funeral arrangements will be made by the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 1st at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Vine Hills Cemetery.
