John Evarts Gove III of Plymouth, MA, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and loyal friend, passed away unexpectedly on September 6, 2026, at the age of 56.
Born on June 20, 1970, John grew up in Marshfield, Massachusetts, and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1988. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in electronic engineering from Johnson & Wales University and began his career at Raytheon. While pursuing his degree at Johnson & Wales, he worked as a mathematics tutor in physics and calculus.
At the time of his passing, John was the Maintenance Supervisor at the Wareham Housing Authority. He was warmly regarded by the residents, many of whom showed their appreciation through homemade gifts. John cared about the people around him, and his kindness and genuine nature made a lasting impression on those he met.
John's greatest passion was fishing and was especially skilled at catching striped bass along the Cape Cod Canal. He loved being by the water, sharing that joy with others, and building lifelong friendships along the way. The connections he made through fishing were especially meaningful to him and brought him happiness throughout his life.
John will be deeply missed by his parents, John Evarts Gove and Mary Rose Gove (Waligurski) of Plymouth, MA; his brother, Michael Gove (Neomi) of Pico Rivera, CA; his sister, Christie Gove Wolff (Ray) of Marshfield, MA; his nephews, Mikey and Shane; his nieces, Abby and Ellie; as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends.
John leaves behind a lifetime of memories and countless people whose lives were touched by his kindness, friendship, and humor. He will be truly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
A Funeral Mass will be held on October 10, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Ann by the Sea, 587 Ocean Street, Marshfield, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Worcester Surf Casting Club, 40 Old Monument Neck Rd. Bourne, MA 02532 are appreciated.
