Hallissey, John J., Sr., age 64, of Plymouth, passed away at the Jordan Hospital on Wednesday, November 11, 2009. John was born and raised in Boston, MA on November 20, 1944. John was the husband of the late Mary (Welchlin) Hallissey. He was the son of the late John G. and Martha (Buckley) Hallissey. He attended Boston schools and graduated from Boston English. He moved to Plymouth in 1975. John started working for General Motors when he was 18 years old and worked for the company all his life. He retired with G.M. as Parts Manager. John was an avid golfer. He was a member at the Squirrel Run Country Club and achieved multiple hole-in-ones there. He was a member of the Cabot Club in Plymouth. He loved all Boston sports teams. John coached Plymouth Youth Hockey and Baseball. John was the devoted father of John Jr. and his wife Heather of Plymouth, Robert and his wife Christy of Plymouth, MaryAnne of Weymouth and Elizabeth Ann of Middleboro. He was the brother of Joan Durant of Canton, Richard Hallissey of Bonita Springs, FL and Donna Hallissey of Jamaica Plain. He was the loving grandfather of Evan & Sean Hallissey and Megan & Brandon Hallissey. He leaves behind his very special friends Marcia and Peter Tache of Plymouth as well as many other friends and family. Funeral arrangements will be by the Bartlett-Garrity Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be on Friday, November 13 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A mass of Christian burial will be at St. Peter's, Plymouth on Saturday, November 14 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Vine Hills Cemetery in Plymouth. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
