Obituary

John Iannucci, 97, of Kingston, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026 peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 31, 1928 in Kingston, MA to the late Bonaventura and Maria (Civetti) Iannucci of Italy. A devoted husband, brother, dad, papa, great-papa, veteran, successful businessman, and beloved member of his community.

John's life was defined by an extraordinary work ethic and an unwavering determination to provide for those he loved. Having lost his father at 13 and his mother at 16, he left school in the eighth grade to help support his family. In 1948, he helped establish Kingston Block Co., Inc., which grew into the second-oldest continuously operating business in town. Even after reaching what most people would consider retirement, John continued to work, because slowing down was simply not in his nature. At 97, he proudly still held his commercial driver's license-a remarkable testament to his lifelong independence and determination.

From 1950 to 1952, John served in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean War, working as a forward observer and attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class.

On September 5, 1954, John married Camille (Casoli), beginning a love story that would span 67 wonderful years. Their life together became a timeless example of what love, commitment, and partnership truly mean. That same year, John and his brother Benny purchased their forever home in Kingston. This house would become a treasured gathering place for extended family and friends to create memories that would last a lifetime. John found joy in watching people have fun on his private beach and boat house, in his hand built pool and cabana, and when playing yard games in his wide open field. He wanted to make sure the people he loved had a place to call home. In the 1980's John and Benny developed Royal Burgundy Lane and generously gifted land to their family for them to build their own homes and raise their families close together.

John's entrepreneurial spirit and love for Kingston extended far beyond his own business. He was a founding member of the original Kingston Business Association and in 1976 became a co-founder and investor in the town's first official newspaper, The Kingston Voice and Journal-Opinion. In 2022, he was honored as the Kingston Business Association's Citizen of the Year, a well-deserved recognition of the many ways he contributed to the community he loved. He also gave generously of his time through the Kingston Lions Club. Additionally, John was a devout Catholic, and was often found volunteering at his beloved St. Mary's in Plymouth.

In his little downtime, he enjoyed eating Italian food, gardening, playing the piano, listening to music, singing, dancing, swimming, playing bocce, watching baseball and football, videography, going to the theater, traveling, reading the newspaper, trying his luck with his favorite numbers, and enjoying card games with friends and family.

John leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, resilience, and, above all, love. In typical cousin's party fashion, a fitting farewell to a man who brought so many people together, we sing: "We're so glad we had this time together!"

He leaves behind his children, John P Iannucci Jr. and Patty of Avon, Marlene Alves and Brian Sr. of Kingston. He was Papa to Shawn Iannucci, Holly Iannucci, Crystal DeRosa, Brian Alves Jr., Mark Iannucci, Colby Alves, Kaitlyn Ross and their spouses. He was Great-Papa to Mia and Zoe DeRosa, Braelynn and Dominic Iannucci, Oliver, Penelope and Aurora Iannucci, and Isabella Alves. John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Camille Iannucci, brothers and sisters, Josephine Vergato, Laura Petit, Nicholas Mucci, Louise Schiavoni, Josephine Wrightington, Lena Pinto, Benjamin Iannucci, nieces and nephews, and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Iannucci.

Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 29th from 5-7pm. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 30th at St. Mary's Church, 313 Court Street, Plymouth, MA 02360 at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:30pm.
