Maher, John P Jr., age 58, of Carver, formerly of Plymouth, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010 after a courageous battle against cancer. He was born in Medford, MA on January 10, 1952, the son of Alice and John Maher, Sr. He graduated from Medford High School.
John was the loving and caring husband of Janice T. (Mason) Maher, with whom he spent 38 wonderful years. He was the devoted father of Christopher Maher of Plymouth, Colleen (Maher) and her husband Ben Whiting of Plymouth, and Allison (Maher) and the late Jared Cordeiro of Plymouth. He was the loving "grampy" to Chandler and Cameryn Cordeiro and Ava and Samuel Whiting, all of Plymouth. John also is survived by his brother, Michael Maher of Sudbury and his sister Patricia Sylva of Waltham as well as many nieces, nephews and friends, whom he loved very much. John was also a friend of Bill W's.
Funeral arrangements will be made by the Bartlett-Garrity Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 3 from 4:00-7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 4 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
