Obituary

Johnathan Michael Balutis-Brown lifelong resident of Plymouth (Manomet), Massachusetts left this world on October 20, 2024, at the age of 34 in Whitingham, Vermont.

Johnathan is survived by his loving parents Jayne M. Balutis and John W. Haskell of Plymouth and Michael S. and Andrea Brown along with his cherished siblings Andrew, Emma and Caralyn Brown of East Bridgewater. His devoted grandparents David J. and Maryellen Balutis of Plymouth, his beloved dog Gus, loving Aunts and Uncles; David and Corliss Balutis, Mark and Jessica Sherman, Paul and Karrie Sherman, Robin Brown and Dave Fields, Kevin and Stacey Brown and Shawn Brown and Marilyn Torrey, along with many cousins, friends and other extended family members.

Johnathan was predeceased by his grandparents Henry H. and Valerie A. (Dallasta) Brown, his great grandparents Emore P. and Valesta M. (Banzi) Dallasta, William P. and Marie O. (Scagliarini) Darsch and Julius and Helen (Slackus) Balutis.

Johnathan was born in Plymouth December 28, 1989. He was educated in the Plymouth school system, attended Plymouth South High School and later attained his G.E.D. certificate. He was always a champion for the underdog, supporting people in their times of need and truly loving his community. He was a recent member of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church, where he was exploring his spiritual life with Father Joe Raeke.

Johnathan was well known for his kind heart, generous nature, vibrant spirit and adventurous nature. He had a soul older than his years. You could tell with the music he listened to, the way he styled his hair and his love and knowledge of history. He would always lend a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen to your troubles. Johnathan became a big brother at the age of 10 and loved his siblings, Andrew, Emma and Caralyn, with his whole heart. He would talk of them often with a huge smile on his face, proud of their accomplishments at school, in sports and just spending some time together. With hard work, dedicated family and friends, good planning and execution, Johnathan loved the fact he attained the rank of Eagle Scout while in BSA Troop 47, Plymouth. He used skills he learned in scouting in his daily life; first aid, CPR and tying knots to name a few. He had a lifelong love of being in the out of doors. He wanted to be in nature from the time he was a child; riding his pony, Sprinkles, to playing baseball and basketball, camping, canoeing and skateboarding. Doing many of these things with his very first and longest friend, Ricky Peterson.

Johnathan was someone who liked to keep everyone guessing what his next great adventure would be. Always ready to go exploring the unknown. He once served Steven Tyler and his daughter while working at Kush Kone all the while forgetting to ask for an autograph. For several seasons he worked as a Cascadeur Clown, Stunt Technician, Professional Ramp Hand and even tried his hand at announcing for Tonny Petersen's Hell Drivers Thrill Show. During this time Johnathan was bursting through walls of fire on a minibike, sliding on his backside down a racetrack behind a car, riding on the roof of the Hell Driver's cars during thrill shows. He did this with his friends Terry Gappa and DJ Warner. Meeting and working with Tonny Petersen, Crash Moreau aka Captain Explosion and some of the Chitwood's along the way. He was never so proud and happy as when he was filled with the adrenaline from those shows.

The other side of Johnathan was perhaps one many did not see. He would find comfort in planting a pumpkin patch then watching it grow, helping a baby starling, Clarice, survive abandonment, learn to fly and to live life on her own. Johnathan would often go walking in the woods with his dog Gus, go hunting for seaglass with his best friend DJ, you could find him sharing his extensive knowledge on a variety of subjects with family, friends and the occasional stranger who would become a new friend. He was able to create the most amazing art out of things found on the beach and what others thought of as refuse.

Johnathan's life was a testament to the joy he found in giving, the excitement of adventure, and the warmth and importance of family, friends and community. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him for his love, adventure, kindness and compassion.
