Joseph Francis Keating (1939-2024).

Joseph Keating of Plymouth, MA, died in Kingston, MA on October 28, 2024, after a long illness. He was 84.

Joe was born in Boston, MA to Francis and Gladys Keating. He was an only child yet had many cousins in his life. Joe grew up in Dorchester, MA before attending Boston University and earning a Master's Degree in Philosophy. He went on to enjoy a long and successful career as an elementary school teacher in Hingham, MA. Known for his quick wit and inquisitive mind, Joe was both engaged with and dedicated to his students, inspiring some of them to become teachers, themselves.

Joe enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, hiking, camping, antique clock repair, gardening, swimming, cooking, going to the theater, listening to music and relaxing at the family cabin on the coast in Maine. He always had a cat in his house and was a master at telling jokes, exhibiting a great sense of humor.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eileen Keating and his son, Jeffrey Keating. He is survived by his son Reidar, stepchildren Lise, Thora, and Lars and grandchildren Joe, Eleanor, Lillian, Erik, Aren, Mia, Nathan and Leah.
