FRESHWATER JOYCE HANNA FRESHWATER (February 23, 1936 - June 9, 2013), aged 77, died peacefully on June 9, 2013 at Stafford Hill Assisted Living after a long battle with cancer. Joyce was born February 23, 1936, in Sebring, Ohio, the daughter of Lawrence and Alice Sharp. Joyce thoroughly enjoyed her family, church, sports, traveling, reading and Cape Cod where she resided the last 13 years. Joyce especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching them play sports. She attended Mount Union College, where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and an elementary education major. Joyce married James E. Hanna, in 1960 and lived in Parma Heights, Ohio the majority of her life, where she taught elementary school for over 30 years. After the death of her husband, she married Jon R. Freshwater in 1978 and retired in Chatham, Massachusetts in 2000. Joyce is survived by her sister Sharon Smith, son James R. Hanna, step-sons Todd E. Freshwater and Blake T. Freshwater, grandchildren Megan, Jonathan, Jake and Emma, and nephews Ryan and Kyle Smith. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 12th at the Brewster Baptist Church, 1848 Main Street, Brewster, MA.
